VT Fire Lieutenant Dies after Training Session

Morrisville fire Lt. Casey Kuhns was found dead at home Wednesday morning after training. 

 

 A firefighter from a small village in northern Vermont has died following a training session.


 The U.S. Fire Administration on Friday announced the line-of-duty death of Morrisville Fire Department Lt. Casey Stephen Kuhns, who was found dead at his home Wednesday morning after training the night before.


The 30-year-old had responded to a vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon and later participated in department training that concluded at about 9:30 p.m.
At about 6 a.m. the following morning, Lt. Kuhns was found dead at home.

Morrisville is a village of about 2,000 people in Lamoille County.

Las Vegas firefighters responded to the Cornerstone Crossing Apartments, 6666 W Washington Ave ( at Rainbow Bl) at 8:15 a.m. Saturday. 


On arrival, three apartments of a 2-story wood frame apartment building was heavily involved with fire. A second alarm was then requested.

In less than 30 minutes firefighters had the fire nearly out.

Two off duty NHP Troopers worked to get six occupants out from the building. Troopers Joseph and Trissa DellaBella, both 15 year veterans, responded to the call. Trooper Joe went in after a lady who returned to her smoke filled apartment to rescue a pet. He rescued both the woman and pet, while Trooper Trissa evacuated other apartments, then collected as many fire extinguishers she could find. Trooper Joe was later taken to the hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation.


NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPERS JOSEPH & TRISSA DELLABELLA, BOTH ARE FINE JOSEPH WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL TO BE CHECKED OUT FOR SMOKE INHALATION.
 
Firefighters rescued a lifeless dog, resuscitated it, the owner took the dog to Lone Mountain Animal Hospital for more treatment. The dog was better before leaving for the animal hospital, but very critical.

Neighbors rescued a teen from a 2nd story window prior to the arrival of firefighters. She escaped without injury.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, damage estimated at $100,000. Southern Nevada American Red Cross was requested to assist 6 adults and 12 children.

2 Alarm Fire Guts 2 Apartments and Damages 3rd.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue was busy first thing this morning with a 2 Alarm Fire  at Cornerstone Crossings Apartments. The first arriving engine company reported heavy fire showing and started a Defensive attack with their Deck Gun. They had the bulk of the fire on the exterior of the building knocked down quickly and switched to a offensive operation. 

 A second alarm was requested by command since they had some extension into the Attic Space of the building. There was minor extension into the attic and as quickly as they could command released 2nd Alarm Companies. 

According to Las Vegas Fire PIO Timothy Szymanski two off duty Nevada State Troopers were driving by and saw the smoke. They rescued 6 people from the building. See LVFR tweet below.

Man in custody for starting fire in Strip parking garage

I LISTENED TO THIS ON THE SCANNER LAST NIGHT SOUNDED LIKE THEY WERE REALLY HAVING A TOUGH TIME WITH THE STANDPIPES. BUT IT WAS A GREAT STOP BY THE CLARK COUNTY AND CITY OF LAS VEGAS FIRE DEPARTMENTS.  





Man in custody for starting fire in Strip parking garage: A man was put into custody for starting building materials on fire at The Drew (formerly Fontainebleau) parking garage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

LAS VEGAS METRO POLICE LOOKING FOR SUSPECT IN LAS VEGAS LOUNGE SHOOTING

Las Vegas Metro Police Detectives are asking the public's help in identifying as suspect in the Las Vegas Lounge shooting this past weekend. 

The Manager of the Las Vegas Lounge feels that the shooting was a hate crime. But they are not sure.
